Now on the question of the genesis of that nickname, I always attributed it to Steve's good old boy attitude. The man was a not only a Heisman winner in college, but a member of Alpha Tau Omega fraternity. Steve is the coach who glad hands boosters, and tells classic stories at florida fundraisers.

He is the Ol' Ball Coach, and tonight he takes on his toughest task yet; trying to turn the hapless Gamecocks into a SEC power. Good luck Steve, and remember u might be wearing Gamecock White, but you will always bleed Redskin burgondy and gold, wait strike that, Gators orange and blue.
