Yankee Mediocrity

Did the Yanks performance last night signal the end of their playoff hopes? The bombers squandered a lead again by giving up six runs in the 5th inning leading to their second loss to the Indians in as many days. The loss now puts the Yanks 4.5 games behind the Red Sox in the East, and only 1.5 games ahead of Toronto.

Taking a look at the standings in the AL, it seems that unless the Yanks get circa 1998 David Cone back that their playoff chances are on life support. If the East isnt won, the Yanks have to fight the Twins, A's, and Indians for the one wild card slot.

To a real Yankee Hater like myself watching the vaunted revamped Starting rotation (I wish I had recorded all the delusional Yank fans talk up Jaret Wright and his "unhittable cutter") collapse under injury, while over the hill vets like bernie and brown collapse has been almost as enjoyable as last years playoffs. Almost.
